MEMORIES

Murphy called me this morning and asked me to come over as he wanted to show me something.

He had cleaned and polished one of the china cabinets that my Aunt and Uncle had given to him, and had many things they also willed to him.  This was my Mother's baby sister, and the one I took care of that had Alzheimers. She was only 15 years older than me!

My Uncle was a big collector.  He had over 100 plates around the top of their great room.  The room was all wood and had a barn type ceiling.  Right under the ceiling he had those plates.....scenes of places they had been, scenes of Indians, and many other things.

In addition to the plates, he collected mugs.  Murphy had put the mugs in the cabinet and he had the light in the top on when I got there.  It truly surprised me and brought back many good memories of visiting them.  They lived near Nashville, so we would go over as often as possible. They had no children, so our children became theirs, to a degree.

Did you notice the telephone on the bottom shelf?  It is a real telephone and was in their bedroom. Also on the bottom left, are two mugs - one says
'Weaze' and the other says 'Moss'.  Her name was Louise but had been called Weaze all of her life.  Their last name was Moss.

Hint for today:
To clean crevices and corners in vases and pitchers, fill with water and drop in two Alka-Seltzer tablets. The bubbles will do the scrubbing.

My cat picture today:
You know how people want to pinch the sweet cheeks of babies?
Well, I could do the same to this sweet kitty!

  5. That's a nice collection. How sad there are no children to inherit. I'm kinda partial to plates too. Been collecting ones with birds in the kitchen but ran out of room. I really need more walls. *lol*
Good helpful hint. Another one is using ice, salt and water to clean fragile coffee carafe's. Not sure of the exact procedure but there's some that swear by this technique. I'm such a klutz my technique is to hand off to Hubby. He has a gentler touch.
Hope your day is blessed. ~:)
