1. "No Rest for the Wicked"
But the wicked are like the tossing sea;
for it cannot be quiet,
and its waters toss up mire and dirt.
There is no rest,” says my God, “for the wicked.”
— Isaiah 57:20-21
2. "Red in the Morning, Sailor’s Warning"
He answered them, “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’ And in the morning, ‘It will be stormy today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times. — Matthew 16:2-3
3. "A Drop in the Bucket"
Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket,
and are accounted as the dust on the scales;
behold, he takes up the coastlands like fine dust.
— Isaiah 40:15
4. "The Blind Leading the Blind"
He answered, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be rooted up. Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.” — Matthew 15:13-14
We hear sayings and say them ourselves and never have a clue where some of them come from. There are 5 more, and will share them another day.
Have a blessed day.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the information, I've used a couple of them myself. Now I know where they come from.
ReplyDeleteHoping the two of you have a wonderful day. Looks like rain here this morning. I think today would be a good day for a kettle of home made vegetable soup, because it's one item that seems to get better each time it's warmed up.
Oh, those are excellent! You know, sometimes we do forget that our common phrases are many times biblically based. Thanks for the inspiration. Can't wait to hear the others. Hope your day is inspirational too.
ReplyDeleteLuv ~:)
