Do you have trouble falling asleep?  Even if you are very sleepy when you go to bed? Do you lay there wide awake, thinking of everything in the world, hoping you will drift off?

I have read about and heard so many ways that people get to sleep.....fans running, tv on with timer, dark room, light in room, door closed, door open, melatonin and on and on.

I use this little gadget..................
It is a sound machine that has several different sounds you can use.  Ocean, thunder, summer nights, rain,  brook and 'white' sounds, whatever that is!  I use the rain sounds most of the time.  It also has a timer for 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes.  I much prefer listening to the 'rain' than to hear the house sounds. I think all houses have their 'sounds'.  One that we have that really keeps me awake, is the refrigerator. It is brand new and yet I hear pops and sounds coming from it all hours of the night.  I am a light sleeper and when I found the sound machine, it has really made a difference.  I hear the rain instead of the fridge!

What do you use to go to and stay asleep?

  2. I've heard a lot about how well sound machines help people fall asleep. I think it would be lovely to fall asleep to the sound of rain every night :)

  3. I have no problems falling asleep. I'm always exhausted. And I'm a heavy sleeper too. Little wakes me up. But I have suffered from insomnia for years and when those times hit me... Well, I might as well just get up and bake a loaf of bread because no matter what I do there's no falling asleep. Fortunately those times have become few and far between.

I've heard a lot of people swear by those sound machines. Glad to hear that it works for you.

The cat quote is oh so true. When Snowy wants to eat she will NOT leave you alone until you do her bidding.

  4. I am finding as I get closer to my mid 40's that I am having trouble falling asleep. I may be soooo tired, but I am unable to snuggle in and fall asleep.
I too listen to the rain...we have a cd that has sounds on it. I love the rain!

  5. Oh Linda, we have worn out about three of those. Ours runs all night long. I am a lite sleeper and Joe is up and down all night long (and he snores). The sound machine saved our marriage!! We even have one that we travel with, since we are so used to the ocean sounds. It works for us!

  6. No problem sleeping here! In fact, if the conditions are right, I usually have a hard time staying awake. *grin* But for good sleep I do enjoy cold temperatures and fan noise. I think that's because growing up in Central Florida it was always hot, even in the "winter", and the fans ran constantly. I just became accustomed to it.
    Luv ~:)
