Good report at the pain clinic for Jim, and we don't have to go back for 3 months!!!

I was cleaning out dresser drawers yesterday and found some pictures of when I was still working as an RN at a big local hospital. I worked in an eye center within the hospital, and we had our own surgery and post-op floor. It was a speciality unit. The nurses shown all worked together and we had good relationships on all 3 shifts, mainly because we had a super head nurse.  She was very picky when hiring. Yes, we worked 7-3, 3-11 & 11-7.  I worked all three shifts now and then but my regular was 3-11. I worked 10 days on and 4 off. The two doctors shown were 2 of our favorites and are retina specialists.

I worked during the days of white uniforms and caps. As things drifted to 'scrubs' of many colors, we maintained our uniform( those without uniforms in the pictures were not on the job). The doctors seemed to like knowing who was a nurse and who was working in some other capacity.  Now you can't tell who is who, or I find it to be true in our hospitals.  See my red glasses on my head?  I had a red car at that time too....flashy huh?

  1. I have such great respect for nurses! I really do. God bless everyone in that profession, and at every level. Love the red glasses!! I can just picture you in your red car, with your red specs.....

  2. Red glasses and a red car ... ?! Way cool! :) Sounds like me. I had matching high heels and briefcase. I wore "business" suits for women. Very chic. (Or, so I though .. ha ha) That was in the '80s. Now many young women look like Street Walkers at work instead of business professionals. *sigh* My, how things have changed.
    Luv ~:)

  3. Fun glasses and red car! God bless nurses; I have such respect for all of you. So happy for Jim's good report.

  4. I love seeing the pictures! When I started at the hospital we wore caps and uniforms too. I think scrubs are easier, but I miss the professionalism of uniforms!

  5. I like those red glasses! Very fashionable!

  6. Don't 'cha just love looking back at those olden pics? Me too! Girl, you were stylin':) Have a blessed day dear friend, HUGS!
