THE GOOD OLD DAYS!

For some reason, I started thinking about the past this morning.  A cousin of Jim's died and he is going to her funeral in Alabama, with another cousin.  Maybe that is what made me think of 'back then'.

Time really was simple, fashion was so different from today, and the fun we had was mostly outside, playing with friends instead of sitting on the couch texting or on a computer.

I do remember learning to walk straight with a book on my head.  I remember wearing dresses to church and when we went downtown to shop.  I would never ever have gone to church in pants or even downtown, it just wasn't 'in'.

Not only did the library have the card index, but my school's library did as well. I haven't been in a library as an adult in so long, I cant remember.

I like some of the new ways of doing things today, but to be honest, the 'good old days' were happier, less confusing, and more simple.  Today, with the news every minute on TV, or the computer, one can't help but be afraid or worry about the world we live in now.

Adults worked during the week, children went to school, and on Sunday, you went to the church of your choice.  We had a vacation in the summer, traveling to some place we had never been before, and we went as a family.  Any special event, birthdays, Christmas, Thanksgiving, was spent with family.

Ahhhh....I do long for those type days again.

.....and GOD BLESS US EVERY ONE

  3. Linda, I was thinking the other day about what we used to wear in junior high. Do you remember the crinolines that we wore to make the skirts look full? I remember washing mine in starch to make then stand out more. That would be way too much trouble now!

  4. Sorry to hear about Jim's cousin passing away. Please share our heartfelt condolences.
You just shared what Hubby and I were discussing today about "the good 'ol days"! [do do do do - twilight zone] Our "Good 'Ol Day's" where the 60s & 70s, but yes, I can remember dressing up to go to town, shopping, school, church, etc. Also, when I first started working in the mid-70s, women ALWAYS wore hosery, makeup, dresses, and nice shoes with clean skin, brush hair, and polished nails. Most girls today look like street walkers. The boys are no better. They're so dirty and trashy. In that respect, I miss the past. But I do enjoy the internet. Just wish everything else would go back to the way it was.
    Luv ~:)

  5. I like your new background and the header too! I remember always wearing a dress to church, and we even had to wear a dress to school until I was in 2nd grade. I like the memory of family vacation and everyone going to church on Sunday. Times have changed and not always for the better!

  6. I remember dressing up all the time growing up, including white gloves. I never would have thought to wear pants to services, even though it was freezing cold in the winter. We spent a lot of time with family and that was great.

  7. I think we grew up during a good time period. Life was good. We learned how to be polite and respectable. I wore the dresses too and every Sunday was spent with family. Things are so totally different today, and not good.
    Good post, Linda. (Hugs)
