GOD BLESS TEACHERS

As you can see, my topic today is our teachers.  I am not, nor could I ever be, a teacher, but I admire and appreciate those that are.  My middle daughter teaches English, and Literature, and in charge of the year book in high school.  She wanted to be a teacher from the time she was a little girl, teaching her dolls.  I have told her many times I would never have the patience to deal with children.  She does have the patience of 'Job'.

Having grandchildren in most all grades - 1st (2), 3rd, 7th, 10th, and 11th, I get to hear and see what is happening at their schools and with their teachers. It is very interesting to say the least.

I don't hear the students complain as much as I hear parents.  They want to play the 'blame game', and of course it is never the parents or the child's part when trouble comes.  I realize a lot of homes both parents have to work, but in the off time, one of them should be working with the child.  Correct mistakes, explain 'why', and teach them to try again and again. All the teacher at school can do is teach the curriculum and hope it can be reviewed at home.  It should be a joint effort.

I know a family (not my grandchildren) where I heard the Dad say....'hey, we pay taxes, let them do that at school.  We don't have time.'  This makes my skin 'crawl'.

Times sure have changed.  I reared my children in a time where teachers were more respected. Homework was important at our house.  I was there to answer questions and help my children 'get it'!

Yes, there were times when my children didn't want to 'do it', but they didn't have a choice.  They all graduated from high school and went on to college, and now one of those children is dealing with the 'sign of the times' parents'.

GOD BLESS US EVERYONE,
AND TODAY ESPECIALLY OUR TEACHERS!

  1. I have to chuckle over your blog header...that was my husband and the Math issue with me last semester, LOLOLOL. OHHHHH I have to agree, it is a joint "operation", however, sadly, it is not anymore. My parents were involved with every single thing when us kids were in school and they both worked...I was involved with my son (well..he didn't have a choice as we homeschooled, lol.). ANYWAYS--Teachers are a dying breed, thanks to whatever reasons, parents, unions, Common Core etc etc . Blessings

  2. Yes, indeed, we need to be thankful for teachers. Especially in this day and age. It is never the child's fault anymore - HA! But so easy for parents to blame the teachers than take responsibility themselves. Good post, Linda!

  4. I teach 2nd grade and have also taught special needs children. Teaching is hard work, not even to mention dealing with the parents!

  5. That header pretty much says it all. My parents would never blame or criticize a teacher in front of us. I'm sure there were some they liked more than others, but we never knew. Now teachers seem to always get the blame.
I appreciate them - it takes more patience than I have!

  6. Oh, I appreciate teachers too. They have a hard job and they are always outnumbered in the classroom. I taught Sunday School for over 30 years. It was hard to do it just one day a week!

The children who come into the library where I work are very disruptive. If we try to correct them, the parents come to us and yell at us. They also use us as a daycare. It sure isn't the same world that I grew up in.
