3 DAYS LEFT TIL THE FAT MAN RIDES!!!

The subject of Santa Claus comes up from time to time, and from different people.  A dear friend at church has 4 children, and I asked what Santa was bringing them.  She replied: 'we don't believe in Santa Claus';  I wont tell my children a lie'.  I asked then about the Easter Bunny or the Tooth Fairy....no, not them either.

To me, it is just using our imagination with our children for just a short time. Mine believed until they were about 7-8.  It was a fun time and took nothing whatsoever away from the meaning of Christmas.  My children knew and loved baby Jesus and we always honored Him. Our children went to a Christian School and were taught about the birth of Christ there too.  (P.S. they believed in the tooth fairy and Easter bunny too) They have taught their children the same.

We are having our mid-week service at church tonight instead of Wednesday. Some people will be traveling on Christmas Eve or doing other things to be ready for the big day.  As our Pastor said, it really doesn't matter what day you choose to worship - just do it!

I have a sore mouth!  Something I ate has rubbed my gums until they are swollen and infected.  Lovely huh?  I did get an antibiotic and am rinsing with warm salt water in hopes that I will be able to eat Christmas breakfast at our daughter's house on Christmas morning, and then when we all gather on Sunday to exchange gifts and have a big meal.

We are a sentimental bunch.  My oldest daughter and I were talking about who went where, when, etc.  She said, 'Harv (her husband) and I have decided we will spend as much time at Christmas and other holidays with our parents as God allows, and when they are gone, we will be the 'old ones' and our children can carry the torch.'  I like that!

I have rambled enough this morning.  Have a wonderful day.

KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS

  1. You have such a wonderful family, Linda. Blessings indeed! We believed in Santa, the tooth fairy and the Easter bunny. It's part of childhood. We also understood the real meaning of the holidays....the birth of Jesus, and his death to save our souls. I feel bad for the kids who don't have the magic, for just a few years, of believing in something so special. Hope your mouth heals quickly!! Glad you have an antibiotic and are taking care with it. Hugs!!

  2. There is nothing wrong with imagination, which is seriously lacking today. I simply do not understand ppl's thoughts on that subject. I believed, my son, and so on...there really is no harm. ANYWAYS---praying you heal fast. I totally agree with your daughter/son in law. MERRY CHRISTMAS.

  3. Love your "rambles". I agree that using the imagination is not harmful. I think they're being more harmed by not allowing them to be kids, but that's just my opinion. However, that said, when I first got saved, I went through my Zealot For God stage and quit enjoying Halloween, Christmas, etc. I was wrong about that but had my heart in the right place. Perhaps these folks are going through that same stage. If so, it'll pass and they'll eventually loosen up.

Your family sounds so wonderful. Would you adopt me? I'm up For Sale. *lol*

Hope you're healed soon and able to eat without pain.

Luv & Prayers For You All! ~:)

  4. I believed in Santa and the Easter Bunny. That was a magical time for me. I also believed in Jesus and accepted Him as Savior when I was 9 years old. But each parent must make the decision for their child.

    Hope your mouth heals quickly.
