THE APPLE SEASON COMING SOON!

Labor Day in the United States is a holiday celebrated on the first Monday in September. It is a celebration of the American labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of their country.  Thanks!

We have several apple orchards close to us and I love it when they open for the season.  It usually goes from September until Christmas.  One in particular has my all time favorite apple cider.  This one is on the mountain where my daughter and family lives, and just about every time I go up to see them, I have to stop by for my 'apple cider addiction'!

It also seems to be the call to fall!

A gentleman in my church has bees and he makes honey.  I purchased two quarts and he brought it to me at church last night.  We use a lot of honey around here - on biscuits, sweet potatoes, hot tea, and cough syrup, etc. when winter colds arrive!
My UT Vols beat Utah last night for the opening season of football.  All of this family 'bleeds orange' and enjoy watching the games.  My daughter and family did go to Knoxville to see them play.  Neyland Stadium where the games are played, holds 110,000. Last night it was a sell out, with only 800 tickets sold to Utah fans!

September, in Old England, was called Haervest-monath (Harvest Month).
This is the time to gather up the rest of the harvest and
prepare for the winter months.

There are flowers enough in the summertime,
More flowers than I can remember—
But none with the purple, gold, and red
That dyes the flowers of September!
—Mary Howitt (1799-1888)
