When I say 'summer is here', it is definitely based on the first tomatoes, and as you can see, we have 'em!  There is nothing like the taste of home grown tomatoes.  We have them at just about every meal.  I like mine peeled and Jim likes his 'not'.  How do you prefer your tomatoes?

I should have used the picture as Wordless Wednesday, but you know me...I have to talk!

I received the following in an email this morning.  It is good...I had read it before, but it is worth reading again.............Leave it to Maxine to come up with a solution for the mess that America/Canada/Australia is now in economically.

I bought a bird feeder.  I hung it on my back porch and filled it with seed. What a beauty of a bird feeder it was, as I filled it lovingly with seed.  Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food.
But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table, and next to the barbecue.
Then came the poop. It was everywhere: on the patio tile, the chairs, the table, everywhere!
Then some of the birds turned mean. They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket. And others birds were boisterous and loud. They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night, and demanded that I fill it when it got low on food.
After a while, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch anymore.. So I took down the bird  feeder and in three days the birds were gone. I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio.  Soon, the back yard was like it used to be ...... quiet, serene.... and no one demanding their rights to a free meal.
Now let's see......Our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care and free education, and allows anyone born here to be an automatic citizen.  Then the illegals came by the tens of thousands. Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services; small apartments are housing 5 families; you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by an emergency room doctor; your child's second grade class is behind other schools because over half the class doesn't speak English.
Corn Flakes now come in a bilingual box; I have to 'press one ' to hear my bank talk to me in English, and people waving flags other than ”ours” are squawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties.
Just my opinion, but maybe it's time for the government to take down the bird feeder.

If you agree, ok; if not, just continue cleaning up the poop!

Happy Wednesday!!!

  1. You know I agree 100%!! I really hate pressing one for English, especially. Happy to welcome others, but learn the language, support yourself and salute the American flag if this is where you want to live.

Your tomatoes look delicious! Nothing like home-grown tomatoes!

  3. Oh, I agree with you 100%. You know the saying.... give a "person" a fish.... teach him how to fish.... etc. etc. Our gov't is just handing out the fish and they don't care whose feeder it comes from.
The birds can be a dirty mess. Fun to watch, but only from a distance.
Fresh tomatoes from the garden are the best. Have a great day.

  4. You know..I couldn't agree with you more. As a future college student in the fall, I can't tell you the mountains of paperwork I had to fill out, and then to see see and hear all the news about illegals..for petes sake, I was born in Indiana NOT India! ANYWAYS--Our tomatoes are still green, I told hubby to pick them and I will make fried green tomatoes. LOL on the birds. (sorry, had to chuckle, lol)--Blessings

  5. You're full of wisdom today! That bird feeder incident does sound just like our country. I say take down the feeder too.
I love summer tomatoes, and I eat them with the skin on.

  6. The bird feeder analogy is perfect! And the politicians don't have to handle the poop, we're the ones stuck with the pooper-scooper and the mess. They're the ones raking in the money because they are corrupt. The people getting the "freebies" vote for more corruption. It's a vicious circle.

I couldn't see the tomato photos but I bet they are good. For some reason it's not displaying on my computer. Ours are coming in like gangbusters. We eat them almost anyway one can think of, cold or hot.

Nice blog background. It's making me hungry. ~:)
