The excitement is running high at Tiftonia Baptist Church this week.  Our Vacation Bible School started last night.  There was an extremely large group of children for the first night.  It seems to increase as the week goes on. The first picture is at the beginning last night. You can see the workers sitting on the bleachers.
These are our buses and vans used to transport anybody who would like to come to VBS.
There is always a penny war, between the girls and boys.  Two adult captains are chosen and they are the encouragers!  I was told the boys won last night, so the girls must work harder tonight.
The loser captain gets a pail of green slime poured on their head on the very last day.  The girls won last year so the boys leader got slimmed, but the money raised goes toward the children's programs, teen mission trips, and to feed some of the children on Sunday mornings.

VBS ends on Friday with a big carnival.  During the week, children earn tokens for playing games, learning verses, helping someone, etc.   They can then use their tokens at the carnival.

I pray God blesses the hard work that goes into VBS and that possibly we see children saved.

  1. Good morning, Linda! I think it so fantastic how popular your VBS is! My church's VBS is next week. I used to love sending my kids. They would always have so much fun. I remember at the end of the week there would be a big party for the parents to attend and the kids would perform a little concert for us. Thanks for bringing this great memories back to me! Have a wonderful day!

  2. That looks like a big group of kids participating! VBS is such a great program in our churches. May God bless the volunteers who work with the kids, to show them that church and loving Jesus is fun, so their hearts can be filled with love and salvation!

  3. Oh what fun! I love Vacation Bible School. I loved teaching. Now I can't handle the noise or the crowd. But I love the watch the children on Sunday morning, sing the songs and share their memory work. I still have memories of studying all day, every day to learn my verses so I could get a trophy. My kids too!

  5. What an amazing group of kids. It's so good to see that many come. I worked one year with VBS at the church we used to attend. Our small building was full of happy children. It was a lot of fun, and a lot of work, but several children gave their heart to the Lord that week. I still tear up when I think about them.
    You have a great day.

  6. Linda, remember VBS at Belmont Heights? We had a good time. If I'm not mistaken that's where we first practiced sword drills with Bible verses. We also learned about the Lottie Moon organization.

  7. There are a lot of churches doing Vacation Bible School around here too. I love when the churches use buses/vans to transport children, it helps many to be able to go.

  8. It's been donkey's years since I've been to, or participated in, a VBS. They are fun! And I do think it's a pleasant way to show the love of Christ to all these young minds that they might be saved. Also, I too pray that the workers in this event will be blessed for all their hard work. May the Lord be praised!
    God bless. ~:)
