Same song, second verse, a little bit longer and a little bit worse!

Have you ever heard that expression?  I am applying it to today.....blah, blah.  I should be happy and thankful that nothing is going on, but at times I get bored easily, and right now is one of those times.  The title picture should be calming, but.........

NOTICE:  THIS IS NOT A HAPPY POST, SO IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ, I UNDERSTAND!!!  VENTING 101-----------

It is draining listening to the news around here and the country in general...killings, robbing, rape, homeless, abused children, and on and on.  Every day it is something more.  God has to be sitting in Heaven and shaking His head.

School will start here in about 2 weeks and things will be hopping - for the kids. I can't hop to anything any more.  All I do is bump into things, bruise or break the skin, apply a band-aid and go on.  Or I try to think of something or tell something, and totally lose my train of thought.  It might come to me a few days later, but by then, it is too late.

I can't lift anything.  My sciatica is beginning to act up, which means another epidural in the near future.  I get tired just walking from one end of the house to the other and have to sit down for a few minutes before I can continue doing anything.

What we cook doesn't please either one of us.  We can never think of anything we want to eat and have a huge garden out back.  Most days we end up with me drinking hot chocolate and Jim eating ice cream.  Some more diet huh?

We have become Jim's Mom and Dad.  Same thing every day, same chair to sit in, same bed to sleep in, close the drapes before dark, lock the doors and just wait to go to bed. Sometimes we sleep, other times we don't.  I can see so much of them in us and we are about the age they were when they left this old world.

My hint for today should be, wake up woman and get back to life, but instead it is this:

My cat picture for today:
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

  1. Let's start this comment with a BIG HUG:) I know how you feel! We keep busy chasing the grandkids watching their sports, BUT... when the sports are in a lull, so are we! Cooking is a challenge. We could eat out a lot more but I just wanna stay in. We watch sports on TV and I am always in bed by 10:00. I guess it is part of getting older that life just repeats itself, but at least we wake up the next day and for that I am thankful! Hope you have a good day and feel good all the way to bedtime! HUGS!

  4. We are going through some of the same things, Linda. If we didn't have the TV and shows we enjoy, I don't know what we would do! Every night is about the same for us. I get home from work, nothing sounds good for dinner, but we eat, then we watch TV until bedtime. And we have had two weekends with nothing going on, so I am looking forward to this weekend!! That is a very pretty cat! Good hint, too! Hugs.

  6. I'm sorry you're having a tough time. Getting older isn't easy, and you are right about the news. Our world is going in the wrong direction fast. I keep reminding myself that God is in control and He's told us these things will happen before He returns.
    Hugs and prayers!

  7. Hi Linda, We feel concerned about the news events too. It seems that you think nothing worse can happen and then, it does. If it helps, we are in the same rut. We don't even have children or grandchildren to give us joy. Sometimes, we go a long time without seeing/talking to anyone but each other! But, I am thankful for a computer and for the Christian friends the Lord has blessed me with thru blogging. I know that the prayers of our blog friends have helped us through many challenges. So, I will be praying for you both and sending love and hugs.

  8. Recently, I linked to a post at Coffee Tea Books and Me that perfectly describes how many of us are feeling in this old world...vexed! Last week, John and I planned a picnic. I was so excited. By afternoon, it was obvious that neither of us were up to it. Sigh. You have well described the doldrums. They can't last forever.

  9. Hmm, I've been there just recently as well, thinking I'm fed up with the same old same old. But summers coming and we have that to look forward to in my part of the world :)

  10. Must go with our age, Abe and I are the same. I go next Friday, doctor is going to try a different type of shot, right into the spine area, lay on an x-ray machine or something, don't have to go off of my blood thinner for that. Abe's still coughing from his bronchitis. What you have said on your blog sounds like what Abe and I were talking about last evening. But he watches the news constantly and that's part of the reason I watch my iPad in the other room, with an ear piece. It gets depressing after a while. I was sitting in there with him last evening, supper was over, such as it was, dishes and kitchen cleaned up, his coffee on for morning and I said, guess I'll go put on my nightgown. He said that seems like that's all we do, get up from one spot, eat, get dressed, go back to the same spot, eat, go back to same spot, eat, get night clothes on, go back to same spot. Then go to bed for him, my recliner for me. Next day do it all over again. Cooking for us is the same way, nothing sounds good and 3/4 of the time it doesn't taste all that good either. Several weeks ago, when we went out for lunch I got a banana split. To older ladies (probably my age bracket) stopped and on said she had just told her friend, I don't think that little woman can eat that big thing. I explained, that was my lunch. They had a lunch and then topped theirs off with a little dish of ice cream. That banana split tasted better then anything I had for a while. I told him, what did older people like us use to do? They sit on their front porches and talked with neighbors walking by, or listened to the radio. At least we have computers to entertain us, TV with all kinds of crap, not just news. We have one station now that just shows old reruns from years ago. Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Perry Mason, called ME TV. I'll have to read your blog to him, sounds so much like us, except we don't have a garden. Have a good day.

  12. Your life sounds like ours. I like my rut, though, and get upset when it changes. Now THAT is old age! *lol* Really like the fake PIN idea. That is brilliant! Hope you're feeling good today and everyone is well. Luv ~:)
