I especially like Lee Child books and there are many(28). I haven't gotten through all of them yet, but definitely will. I like his style of writing - he keeps me guessing.
Has anyone read 'The Girl Who Went Missing' by Ace Varkey? I seem to have downloaded it twice to my Kindle, but for the life of me, can't find it. LOL I am trying to finish 'Gone Girl' and I know several of you have read that one.
I do find that reading is an aphrodisiac in so many ways, as my title says. I take my Kindle everywhere I go.....EVERYWHERE, because one never knows when one can read a few pages, or just two. Believe it or not, I have had 3 Kindles. One is mine, one is Jim's and I gave my original to a friend at church.
Some prefer to turn the pages of a book, and I totally understand. I have one daughter that feels that way, and maybe because she is a teacher! Either way, reading is a plus to me in every way.
Have a great Friday. I am up for suggestions on my next book!
WHICH ARE YOU?
Hi Linda, I have always loved good, clean mysteries! My late mom was visually impaired and I would read aloud to her...her favorite mystery author was Phyllis Whitney. I have an older kindle given to me by my brother but I admit, I love holding a book...most are thrift store finds for a quarter! Wishing you a nice day.
ReplyDeleteI understand about 'clean' books of any kind, which are few and far between these days.
DeleteYes, when reading aloud to your mom, it's important not to run across something unexpected! A kind lady in a book exchange store shared with me about the Phyllis Whitney books. Mother was beginning to get dementia, and the books were not only clean but were simple enough for her to follow easily. Have a restful evening.
DeleteI love to hold a book and I like love stories:) Enjoy your day dear friend, HUGS! (posted my comment twice, just in case you get two)
ReplyDeleteLinda, I am a mystery fan, also. I enjoy reading books by David Baldacci, Michael Connelly, and other well know authors. I joined Book Bub....it's free....and every day I get 4 or 5 suggestions for Kindle books. At least 2 or 3 are free and the others are around $1.99. Because of this, I have "discovered" other authors. I really like Mike Lawson, David Rosenfelt and Mary Kay Andrews. These books are not really mysteries, but I highly recommend books by Sarah Addison Allen. They are wonderful and beautifully written....especially Peach Keeper and First Frost.
ReplyDeleteYahhhhhhh.....glad to know another Kindle addict...!! And Lee Childs - can't say enough about his books....Luv'um.......sorry I can't seem to get past chapter 2 in Gone Girl...but, I keep trying......
ReplyDeleteI am the same on Gone Girl, but everyone that has read it, tells me to keep going - it will make sense!
DeleteI love mysteries and Amish fiction. A good biography, memoir or theology book is good too. Well, let's just say I read a lot of different things. I like to read Debbie Macomber, Laura Childs, Beverly Lewis, Wanda Brunstatter, Joanne Fluke, etc., etc. And I'm always on the lookout for a new author.
ReplyDeleteI read both paper books and Kindle books. I tend to take the Kindle with me to doctor appointments because it's easier to handle.
Huge fan of books here too but I prefer turning pages than swiping a screen. It's so much cozier. My fav's are Agatha Christie (English murder mysteries and some that are just stories) and non-fiction medival history, especially English and Norman French. I can be lost for hours reading such novels. I try to always carry one with me everywhere I go "just in case" I can squeeze in a page or two. I'm never lonely if I have a book. Oh, and for light reading I prefer Archaeology magazine or something along those lines. I'm really boring! *lol*
ReplyDeleteHope your day is nice and pain free. Luv ~:)
I like cozy mysteries, sometimes. But, I also like historical fiction, and just about everything in between!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda! You know I am one of those readers, and I am enjoying my 3rd Kindle and Joe has his own now. I love mysteries and historical fiction (based on fact but fictional characters). I've not read any Lee Childs, but will have to look for his books, now that I know you love them!! I'm reading a Nora Roberts book right now. I used to read her a lot, so thought I would try one of her newer ones. I'm not enjoying it at all, but am nearly half-way through it now, so will plug along. Disappointed, though. Great post!! My Kindle goes with me everywhere, too.
ReplyDeleteI very much prefer mysteries or biography's or History. Your blog looks very lovely, Linda, it always does. Blessings
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy reading! My husband and I even read books aloud with each other. I hope you're having a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteI love reading. I enjoy a wide range of books. My all time favorite book is Pride and Prejudice. I think romance is my favorite, followed by mystery and then fantasy. I love reading on my Kindle app. Do you ever download an audio book? I haven't yet but I'm really tempted to do so. I know my friends who use the audio version love it!
