MORE BITS AND PIECES!

My DIL got the job she interviewed for yesterday.  PRAISE THE LORD! They have really been worried, but in time, with patience, God always answers our prayers.

Jim helped me yesterday and we actually got 3 rooms dusted and vacuumed and straightened.  It is so funny......we both will begin whatever task we choose, do it for 10-15 minutes and have to sit down.  We sit, and then start again, and laugh at ourselves.  But again, PTL, we can laugh.  We still have the kitchen and bathroom floors to mop and that is on the agenda today.  In all the years we have been together, I don't remember him EVER helping with housework.  He was a hard worker on his job, and the house was my work.  He knows he is 'feeble', and realizes now I am too!  The help has come a little late, but at least it came.

Today I buy groceries, and Jim has an errand to run, then of course, church this evening.

Helpful Hint time........

Recipe to consider..........
Blooming Apples!!!
Honeycrisp apples are best (Walmart usually has them) but any kind is ok.

3 tbsp Brown sugar, packed
4 Caramels
1 tsp Cinnamon
1 tbsp Flour
2 tbs Butter
Heat butter and brown sugar in the microwave for 30 second, stir and continue heating for an additional 30 seconds. Remove from the microwave and stir in flour and cinnamon. Divide the mixture over the top of the two sliced apples.
To get the blooming apple look, you need to cut the apples. Slice off the top 1/4 to 1/3 of the apples. Scoop out the core. I don’t have an apple corer, so I used my metal 1/2 teaspoon measuring spoon. Then use a thin knife to make two deep, circular cuts around the center of the apple. Next, turn the apple over and make narrow cuts all the way around the apple. Flip it back over and you can see all of the cuts.

Place the apples in an oven safe dish and put two caramels into the center of each apple.

Bake at 375 for 25-30 minutes. Check and make sure the apples are tender.  Remove from the oven and use a large spoon to move the apples into bowls. The outside layer of apple pieces will spread out and the middle will stick together due to the ooey, gooey caramel center!
Mmmmm, top with ice cream!

I can almost taste this one....and it is easy.  You know me and 'easy'!

Have a blessed day!

  1. It's so nice that Jim is helping out. We are similar - Bob does the outside work, I do the inside.
    That recipe looks so good!

  2. The caramel apples look so good!! What do you do with the butter, flour, cinnamon and brown sugar? I can guess, but don't see that step in the recipe instructions. It's nice that Jim is helping with the housework! I'm blessed that Joe does, too!

That's wonderful that your DIL got the job. I hope she'll be happy with it.
I think we can both thank God that we have our husbands here to help us.I think mine has realized the same thing.... I'm not able to do what I've always done.

  4. Looks delicious and sounds good. I know what you mean about cleaning. I work awhile, then sit a while, and I'm ok as long as I stay away from the computer or my iPad. LOL Abe doesn't help. I use to do the mowing and I liked that a lot better then running the sweeper. But I just can't do it any longer and we have a terrific young man that does it all and trims so nicely. Several of our daughters said they will come and cut down all the ornamental grasses before winter. A job Abe and I use to work on together, but can't any longer. Plus he has no patience, when he wants something done, he things it should be done wight away. I've told him, they also have their own yards to take care of. The grasses aren't going anyplace. One daughter says she cuts hers back after winter before Spring. You have a nice time at church this evening.
