"1 Samuel 16:7  But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart."

Do we look at someone on the outside and think....now I could be friends with him or her. Or do you take the time to get to know someone?  We are all probably guilty of looking at someone, and how they are dressed, what color skin they have, what they say, what kind of car they drive, and then we know if we could be friends or not.  We need to heed to what the Bible says:  look on the heart, not the outward appearance.

I started my blog yesterday with "I wish I had something interesting or exciting to tell you".  Today I have something, although not exciting, to say the least.  Our central AC died yesterday!  Jim called a friend who is in the business and he came and assessed the situation.  They are supposed to come this morning around 9, and we are just hoping it is something simple and not a new unit.  The man said a new unit would be $4,500+ and that just isn't in our budget these days.  We thankfully have ceiling fans and we turned them on high.  We have storm windows OVER the old windows (this is an old house that his parents lived in for 50 years) and we can only open 1 window in the whole house.  Jim said if it is a new unit, we would be living with the fans for a while.

The garden is all but gone and school starts next week, so even though some of us want it to last much longer, summer is heading downhill and fall is peeping around the corner. I know it is still the end of July and we have August to go, so we will have many more hot days, but we can at least look forward to cooler ones.

  1. Oh no, Linda! So sorry about the ac. Keep the windows closed and the blinds closed. I know, it is easy to open the window..but believe me..keep them closed, especially in your oppressive heat. I hope and pray it can be fixed, please keep us updated. Blessings

  2. Sorry to hear about your AC! Maybe you should check into a window unit. It helps keep us cool.

  3. Oh, my, sorry to hear about the a/c. I hope it's something minor that can be fixed right away. The new units just keep going up higher each year and I don't know of anyone that's able to dish out that kind of money from their pockets.
You take care. Give us an update later on what happened. You can always come live with us. Our temperature last night was only 49°. You could definitely stay cool here. ;)

  4. OH MY GOODNESS! That is dreadful! Never wish to live an exciting life. This is the stuff that happens.
Man, I would have to be in a a/c hotel if that happened to us. My body "thermometer" doesn't function like it should I would actually shut down, possibly expire, if I get overheated. I pray the a/c will be repaired or replaced by this time. Please keep us updated?
    Luv ~:)

  5. Oh no! AC problems in the middle of summer. I'm so sorry. Hope it is an easy, inexpensive fix. Let us know the diagnosis, please.

I think we have probably all judged someone on their appearance, at some time in our lives. Not right, and not the Christian thing to do at all. Good words to remember - look to the heart!
