PRE-PALM SUNDAY

April 12, 2014
The 102nd day of 2014
70 days until summer begins

Does your church celebrate Palm Sunday with palm leaves, etc.?  The message is given, but we don't use the palm leaves as some churches do.

Palm Sunday Story - Triumphal Entry Story Summary:

Jesus Christ was on his way to Jerusalem, knowing full well that this trip would end in his sacrificial death for the sin of humanity. He sent two disciples ahead to the village of Bethphage, about a mile away from the city at the foot of the Mount of Olives. He told them to look for a donkey tied by a house, with its unbroken colt next to it. Jesus instructed the disciples to tell the owners of the animal that "The Lord has need of it." (Luke 19:31)

The men found the donkey, brought it and its colt to Jesus, and placed their cloaks on the colt. Jesus sat on the young donkey and slowly, humbly, made his triumphal entry into Jerusalem. In his path, people threw their cloaks on the ground and put palm branches on the road before him. Others waved palm branches in the air.

Large Passover crowds surrounded Jesus, shouting "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!" (Matthew 21:9, )

  4. Our church doesn't do the palm branches. We don't always even have the message or the hymns. This year though I see we will be singing one Palm Sunday hymn...Ride On Ride On Oh Saviour King.

  5. The graphic on the top, left-hand side of today's blog is me: Where's the ANY key!?? *lol* I'm still learning this dadgum Windows 8. And I'm sighing. A lot.

I've never been to a church that used palms on Palm Sunday.

It's amazing when one really, really thinks about it about how Jesus left the glories of Heaven to be humiliated, starved, forgotten, lied to and tortured just to save mankind. If the lost only knew how much HE loves them! It's so important to keep witnessing for Him while there's still time during the Age of Grace. I think we're running out of time before the program changes. [Hope that makes sense. I'm really tired this evening from a long motorcycle ride.] I have a feeling that Christ will be calling all of us Home soon.

    God bless. ~:)

  6. I know you are tired from your ride, but happy tired! I couldnt agree more about Christ calling us home soon. The world is telling us every day with the trials and troubles. I am ready and you are ready and we have to just keep telling others. Happy Palm Sunday!

  7. Yes, we do have palms in our church. I bring them home and make them into crosses. We keep them all year, in places where we can see them daily, and then turn them in before Lent the next year. They are burned and used as the ashes for Ash Wednesday. It is a wonderful tradition.
